He's going to be a Yankees fan
This is one of the first cakes I did when I got back into NM and it was done with only a quarter of my supplies being here! The receipent loved the cake (my friend Sylvia) and it was a hit at the baby shower. I can also happily report that LJ was born on 12-11-09 and both mom and baby boy are already home and doing well.

A Week Off?
Wow who gets that? I finally have a week off from cakes and honestly, I'm beside myself in terms of what to do after work. Maybe I'll actually get on the threadmill or clean all the airbrush paint from my cabinets.

UF Graduation Cake
So I have to admit, I'm not entirely happy with the way this cake turned out but the graduates mom seemed pretty happy. So what am I not happy about? Well really it's all the accent details, the graduation cap that I had to do in gumpaste because chocolate would not stand up for a 3-4 hour car ride, the eyelashes on the gator - I should have used fondant strips instead of painting them, the coach wristlet - it needed to be flatter and the print needed to be darker, and lastly I need to get better at cursive or somehow steal my sisters beautiful handwriting.

My First Wedding Cake
I had soo much time with this cake dispite the stress it gave me. I was only really stressed because of a few things - workign with someone whom isn't a friend and the fact that the cake would be sitting outdoors in 95+ degree heat. All went well though and apparently the couple loved the cakes design and taste!
Gerber Daisy's and rose were handmade with gumpaste and then airbrushed to the requested colors.

Choo-Choo!
Okay so I ditched edible Thomas and went for the back up...I hate putting none edibles on cakes but I'd rather put something non edible on than deliver a cake it looking horrible. Everything (expect Thomas and Percy) are edible; made from Satin Ice. Orange cake with Strawberry Mousse Filling Thanks for looking

Crying Baby Cake #2
Recreation of the same baby cake I made for my friend Laura but this time it was for a baby shower that Jill is hosting. This one was alo bigger than the previous baby cake and I swear weighed twenty pounds...then again it may have seemed heavier because I hadn't had coffee yet when I decided to carry up three flights of stairs.

Ahhh, here's the baby
Awe this is the cake that almost didn't happen because my oven broke on Monday - almost had a panic attack. For some weird reason the element damn near melted itself all the way through and I'm so thankful I came into the kitchen before the preheat was done - the element was glowing white and was sparking! Immediately turned it off and called Lowes. Thankfully it was an easy fix and just required a replacement element that arrived on Wednesday, just in time for me to do the cake.
But anyway, this cake is for my friend Laura whom was hosting a baby shower for one of her friends. Laura brought me a picture of a cake she found on one of those baby shower planning websites and asked me to replicate....I think I got it pretty close.

Happy Easter
Happy Easter!
Made this after seeing a similar cake on Cakecentral but the egg was just white. I decided to paint the egg to make it more Easter like.
Carrot Cake with Creamcheese Buttercream Fill and Frosting.

So this cake was far more challenging to me than I thought it would be and surprisingly, it wasn't the purse.....it was the shoe box! Purse was done in about 3 hours and the darn shoe box took me easily 6-8 hours to complete. Mainly that was due to my own stupidity (fondant wasn't long enough) but I just couldn't get it to look right. After three attempts, what you see is what I settled on. Overall, I like the outcome. Shoe, Roses, Pearls, and Flowers are all gumpaste. Purse is Marble cake with chocolate filling covered in Satin Ice; Coach design was airbrushed on with Silver Luster. Shoe Box is Chocolate Cake with chocolate filling covered in Satin Ice. Martini glass is plastic but it's filled with red glitter gel.

Pink and Green Baby Shower
This one was for my friend Connie...she wanted it for her sister-in-law's baby shower. Replicated after the shower cake I did for my sister over a year ago with a few tweaks. Everything but the bow and the monogram are edible.
Cake is yellow with chocolate bavarian filling and iced with white chocolate buttercream. Satin Ice fondant used for the accents.
Fantasy Island
I made this for one of the girls in engineering for her rehersal dinner.
Everything is edible...even the flowers though I'm sure they wouldn't taste too good.
Bottom tier is chocolate with strawberry fill, middle is strawberry with bavarian fill, and top tier is white almond sour cream with strawberry fill.

50th Wedding Anniversary
More "firsts" on this cake: edible image, calla lillies, and the lettering...a ton of fun and what made it even better is that this cake was for a dear friend of mine. It's her Grandparents 50th Wedding Anniverary this weekend and she's throwing one heck of a party so getting to see her reaction to something so meaningful to her was the greatest joy of my day.
